Quick update on our new addition
Posted 29 June 2017 - 10:06 PM
While trying to bring no's down because I just can't rescue anymore with my fibro taking over so badly. We went from 20 in Jan to 14 by June. Losing 6 babies in less than 6 months was quite tough. Then all of a sudden Plums mom and sisters started going for her and basically attacking her. There were no warning bites. These were real worry ones.. to her neck and face and basically everywhere. I had to separate her but she was way too scared to get to know any of my others and so i kept her alone next to me for a while, hoping she would heal but then she started almost self mutilating.... she just has scabs everywhere. I treated twice with Revolution, had her on viral guard, coconut oil and various other attempts. So here's where we come to new addition.... I got a little 6 week old Dumbo PEW from a rescue that Lora did. She lent me another XL cage and the two have settled nicely together. Still early days for the scabs but I haven't seen new ones.. praying she'll heal now and be all good. If she is still not any better by next week I'm taking her to the vet to see if maybe it's an immune disorder or possibly a parasite that Revolution doesn't kill. Vet can check her poo first and take it from there. Holding thumbs though, praying and if anyone has any extra goodvibes that would be great.
My grandpa Roo is 2 and 9 months now and still doing well after Bangerang and Bass. It was good to put Nibbs with him before they went. That just went well from the start. My next in line grandpa is Emo who turned 2 in March, he's good too. And then Thunder who was 2 in May. The boys from that last rescue I did are so big now and I love having all 10 in my room with me. Dove never accepted anyone after Roxie and FiFi passed so suddenly but she plump and happy and in no way depressed. She comes for her morning breakfast and evening meal.. has nests all over her penthouse and covers her food bowl even though she's alone. Such a beautiful girl with the smoothest softest tail ever. She is in Jamie's room. The other 4 girls (mom and sisters) are in the mansion in the lounge.
Sooooo now instead of 5 cages, I have 6. My ratties are happy though and that makes me happy. Especially on my very sore and bad mornings or when Jamie is totally freaking me out, there is nothing better than putting your hand in amongst a bundle of sleeping ratties It breaks my heart that I won't be able to take in any more that need homes, when I'm down to one or two cages that will be good. I can't stop completely. They are my heart and my passion.
Ok,, so much for quick update.. but I haven't posted in a while and I've missed it. I have pics of my new baby but not loaded on photobucket yet. So will post when I have them. Hope everyone is well and aside from those we are aware of, that other ratties are doing well.

I cant believe Thunder turned 2 in May! Time has passed by so quickly. I remember when you got him, he was tiny! And then he turned into such a beeeg boy! And then you got your set of even bigger boys...
I'm glad that your grandpa's are doing well
Also really good to read that your ratties are a source of joy to you on your difficult days
