What is an avatar? An avatar is the little image that goes next to your posts. You might choose a favourite pet to display, or an avatar promoting something you support (like an animal charity) or something else that you prefer.

The easiest way to set an avatar is to find your image (maybe an existing photo on your hard drive, or an copyright-free image you downloaded off the internet). Resize it to 100x100 pixels if its larger, and make sure its not over 100kb in file size.

Then upload it to your Photobucket account (sign up for free if you dont have one - its handy if you're going to want to upload pics in future to this site for everyone to see).

When logged into the RATANOOGA forums, click on the "My Controls" link at the top of the page, then select "Edit Avatar Settings" under the "Personal Profile" section.
There you will have three options. Either use an avatar from our gallery, to insert an external link (recommended) or to upload from your computer.

If you choose to use our Gallery Avatars, be aware that it is possible for another to have the same avatar, so yours might not stay unique to your profile. To use this method, choose a gallery from the drop down list and click "Go". That gallery's page will load, select an image, and then click "Use Selected Avatar". (Base Gallery and Ratanooga Avatars have the same images).
All credit goes to Grove Pashley for the avatars in the Grove Pashley folder. His photos can be seen on his Rat Page of his website.

Select the URL method, use the "http:" link that your photobucket account provides you with. Click "Update Avatar". It should not have any other bb code in the url (ie no items in [ ]'s).

Uploads from your PC are not supported.
Avatars that do not conform to the standards will be deleted. Please make an effort to keep dimentions and file sizes correct. smile.gif

whats the url from photobucket? is the image 100x100 in size? The server doesnt allow uploads, but unfortunately it doesnt remove the option, so URL is your only option.
